Hello and welcome to fifth grade at PS 452!
We look forward to a successful year together! We are hoping to answer general questions on our private website. https://ps452grade5.shutterfly.com/ . Please contact us for passwords and individual concerns.
We are deeply invested in your child's success. We are also dedicated to creating and maintaining classrooms where your child and his or her peers are working hard to meet their academic goals here at PS 452 and beyond. Expectations are always high here at PS 452, but we are expecting even more from our learners this year as we work to prepare them for middle school and beyond.
Our challenging curriculum this year consists of reading and writing workshop where learners will work together in book clubs to analyze themes and engage in debates across fiction, fantasy, social issues, and nonfiction texts. As scientists, learners will explore the topics of variables, nutrition and the environment. In math, fifth graders will construct theories and practices around relationships and operations using fractions, decimals and measurement. In Social Studies students will learn about European Exploration, Latin America, the Civil Rights movement, and Westward Expansion.
