The FLAG Award for Teaching Excellence recognizes and celebrates extraordinary public-school teachers who inspire learning through creativity, passion, and commitment. One grand-prize winner from each of NYC’s five boroughs will receive a $25,000 cash prize and finalists will each receive $10,000. The winning teachers’ schools will each receive $10,000 and each finalist’s school will receive $2,000 for arts-based initiatives designed by the award recipient.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility during the start of our school year and we appreciate how well our students and families have adjusted to the new safety and health protocols during our school’s arrival and dismissal procedures.
As the cooler weather begins, we have adjusted the opening and closing times of the school gates to decrease the amount of time students, families, and staff are waiting outside.
Beginning, Monday, November 9:
PreK & Kindergarten Gate (61st Street & Amsterdam Ave)
Hudson Guild, a multi-service community agency serving those who live, work, or go to school in Chelsea and the west side, with a focus on those in need, has openings in its preschool programs and a location near PS 452. See below for more information or visit the Hudson Guild website. They also have teen, mental health, and adult programming available.
Come in costume OR send ONE photo of your little goblin in their Halloween costume to email@example.com by FRIDAY, 10/30 at NOON. Photos will be added to a spooky slide show to be shared over Zoom on Halloween Morning at 11am (Link to follow)

Parent Teacher / Conferences are coming up in November!
All conferences will be Remote By Appointment. Teachers will email families with a signup schedule prior to the conferences.
Early Dismissal on Thursday, November 5
We will open the gates around 11:00 am and complete dismissal by 11:10 am. Bus dismissal is at 11:10 am as well. Lunch will not be served. If you would like your child to receive lunch that day, please send a note requesting school lunch via purple Kidmail folder to your classroom teacher by November 4.
