A True Team Effort to Collect Food for New Yorkers in Need!

12/5/2019

Thank you to ALL of the PS 452 families and staff who donated to our City Harvest Daily News Food Drive! With your help, we had our most successful food drive to date, donating nearly 1,000 pounds of food for New Yorkers in need.

We also had a very successful online fundraising drive, raising $606! You can still donate here if you would like!

Special thanks to our Pre-K and K students and families for leading the way, and parent volunteers Tamar Rosenberg and Brian Rooney who were an immense help to our community throughout the drive!

Fifth Graders Serve the Community at Westside Campaign Against Hunger

11/20/2019

PS 452 fifth graders are working with Westside Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) this year. Small groups of students are taking turns over the next few months portioning and packing food for families in need to shop for on their monthly visits. WSCAH was the first pantry in the country to implement a choice-style market. Families are given a budget based on their family size and invited to decide which foods are best for them, including items that they know how to cook and like to eat, which increases dignity and decreases food waste.

In FY 2019, WSCAH provided 1.6 million pounds of food to 11,300 families. The organization, which has been serving the upper west side for 40 years, also has a social services team and counselor, runs a culinary pathways program, a 12-week course free for people with employment barriers, and a mobile market.

WSCAH is also collecting for their Thousand Turkey Challenge for Thanksgiving! You can donate by clicking on the button below.

November 7, 2019

Dear District 3 Community,

School communities in District 3 have been busier than ever this fall, with seasonal celebrations, field trips, school tours and open houses for rising 6th and 9th graders, tree and bulb plantings, bake sales, and the first ever D3 Garden Train. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers and school staff who work tirelessly to make these events possible.
