WHO ARE THE ADULTS IN SCHOOL?
In addition to the Principal, Assistant Principal and the Teachers, there are many others who are a vital part of your child’s school day and the functioning of the school.
School Secretary performs all office functions.
Parent Coordinator is a contact person for families who need any assistance.
Our Parent Coordinator - Sharon Lustig, Slustig3@schools.nyc.gov - works in the school and assists parents and/or their children in a variety of ways.
Community Coordinator handles business and operational functions within the school.
Social Worker will assess and work with students who are referred by a parent or teacher. Our Social Worker works with classes on social and emotional learning.
Paraprofessionals are classroom-based staff assigned to assist in some classrooms as well as with designated students.
Other Service Providers include:
Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, School Psychologist, and ESL (English as Second Language) Teacher. These adults are assigned to work with students based on evaluations approved by parents.
School Nurse is primarily here to assist with the medical needs of students with documented needs. They do extend their work, however, to include assistance to all of our students as much as possible.
School Aides are office personnel who give daily assistance to students, parents, and teachers.
Student Teachers are students from nearby universities who are in various classrooms for a semester of teaching apprenticeship.
School Safety Officers maintain security in the building and are located at his/her assigned post in the main lobby. They must check the identification (picture) of
everyone entering the building and direct them to the school main office. It is her/his
responsibility to enforce the policy that parents and other visitors not travel throughout the building or go directly into classrooms without the school office staff’s knowledge. Cooperating with school safety will assist with ensuring the safety of our building.
Cafeteria Staff is responsible for preparing breakfast and lunch meals for the students.
Custodial Staff is responsible for the physical care of the building.
