Greetings from all of us at Arts and Athletics!   Registration is now open for Fall Cycle 2026! The cycle will run for twelve weeks from Monday, September 7th to Friday, December 4th. Arts and Athletics follows the NYC Public School calendar and afterschool is not conducted when schools are closed.

Annex Afterschool Overview

Please note that the curriculum for next school year is still being finalized, so some details may change before September. However, the information below reflects the curriculum and program structure that has been successfully implemented at our other Pre-K sites and should provide a good sense of what families can expect.
 
Our Pre-K after-school program offers a variety of age-appropriate enrichment experiences, including arts and crafts, read-alouds, and supervised play. Unlike our K–5 programs, Pre-K students do not select individual enrichment classes. Instead, we draw from the broad range of activities offered across our elementary sites to create a balanced program that engages a variety of interests.
 
Although the annex does not have its own outdoor space, Central Park is located approximately one block away. Depending on staffing, weather conditions, and school policies, children may have opportunities to visit the park using walking ropes designed for safe group travel. We also anticipate utilizing indoor spaces, such as the gym, for active play and movement activities.
 
Children are placed in self-contained groups of approximately 14 students, each led by two teachers with expertise in early childhood education.
 
Throughout the year, preschoolers participate in enrichment activities tied to monthly themes and a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Themes may incorporate language exposure (such as Spanish, French, or Mandarin), visual arts, literacy, math, science, music, movement and dance, and free play. Our curriculum is designed to support children's physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development while fostering curiosity about different cultures and the world around them.
 
A sample daily schedule is provided below and is subject to change:
  • 2:45–3:00 p.m. – School dismissal, transition to cafeteria, and snack
  • 3:00–3:10 p.m. – Circle time
  • 3:10–4:00 p.m. – Enrichment activity
  • 4:00–4:40 p.m. – Outdoor play (weather permitting) or gym activities
  • 4:40–5:30 p.m. – Enrichment activity
  • 5:30–5:40 p.m. – Dismissal
Unlike our K–5 programs, the Pre-K program operates as one continuous session from dismissal until 5:40 p.m., rather than separate early and late sessions. Families are welcome to pick up their children earlier if needed; however, we encourage notifying the Site Supervisor in advance whenever possible to help minimize interruptions to activities and transitions.

NEW YORK SCHOLASTIC CHESS CLUB

 New York Scholastic Chess Club 

PS 452 Chess Program:
 
PS 452 is excited to be continuing our partnership with NY Scholastic Chess Club since 2016. NYSCC has been a part of the PS 452 community for nearly a decade now, providing both in school and afterschool instruction to the students at PS 452.
All 1st - 5th graders will receive in school chess instruction from elite chess teachers.
There is also an afterschool chess program offered on Mondays throughout the school year for all ages and levels of chess players.

Classes will begin immediately afterschool until 4:30pm. 

GODDARD RIVERSIDE AT LINCOLN SQUARE NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER

   

 

Goddard Riverside offers after school care for students in grades K-6. 

  • Monday – Friday, 2:45-5:30pm
  • Students are picked up from PS 452.
  • Activities Include: Homework Help, Tutoring, Arts, STEM
  • Meals & Snacks Provided
  • Fees: affordable; HRA Vouchers Accepted

THE NY KIDS CLUB WEST END AFTERNOON CLUB

NY Kids Club West End Afternoon Club is the place to be! We offer a safe and enriching after-school program, a social and academic supplement for children. In our Afternoon Club program, children enjoy an exciting afternoon full of physically and artistically enriching activities, including dance, gymnastics, sports, art, and more!

Our Afternoon Club students are taught by dynamic instructors who stimulate curiosity, support children in developing an appreciation for learning, and offer valuable supplemental lessons complementing and elevating children's early learning experiences. Plus, our experienced team adds a theatrical element to our lessons, bringing them to life!

Afternoon Club is offered Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.; registration is available on a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-day per week basis. Families are welcome to pick up anytime within this window.
